Fashion design takes a lot of planning and more work than you'd think. Drawing a design in a sketchbook is just the very beginning. You draw a whole lot of designs and then pick the best ones to actually make. The next step is creating a pattern on some thin paper, and then getting the fabric.

[Pin, pin, pin. She might still be a beginner at going from start to finish but she's made a great deal of progress when it comes to basic alterations and measuring.]

Then you pin the pattern to the fabric, cut out the pieces, stitch them together, and it's only then that you get to this stage and alter the clothes to fit the model.
