8.5th...Taunt | Fourth Wall!
[Waking up as normal on the weekend as he always does, getting ready in the morning and heading out for another grueling day of training brought a surprise.
One that now, for some reason, he remembered from last year. A whole bunch of people he doesn't want to talk to but oh guess what, they're going to bug him anyway. But this year it's a little different for him. There might be quite a few irritants running amok, but he's got his eyes out this year. For more people from home. Curiosity killed the cat, so instead of training for eight to twelve hours today, he decides to cut it a little short at six and then make himself available in the village.
As always, he can be found at the Battle Dome, doing a usual training routine, and then doing more work with his sword that he's taken up to learning to fight with recently. He can be interrupted in between breaks, or during his training with his sword- but be wary, there are explosions that are rocking the entire building!
Afterwards he makes his way to Seventh Heaven to get a meal. It's far easier to spot people at a place like that, and holy cosmos does he have a ton of food in front of him. Piles and piles of it. And needless to say Vegeta is tearing through it, plates being emptied faster than you can blink. But yet, still managing to eat it somewhat gracefully. Somewhat being a relative term here.
Or, he can be found anywhere in the square in the main part of Luceti, around the Item Shop, Grocery Store, Blacksmith and Clothing Shop, among others, leaning up against a building and watching some of the crazy go down. Making notes of people he'd like to stay the heck away from just in case they pop up here later. Run in to him here, figuratively or literally, to bug him if you want.
Later in the evening, to relax he heads to the Hot Springs. Because hopefully here he can get away from the masses, because let's face it, it's given him a giant headache.
Or, create your own adventure.]

Fine by me. But if you do decide to try your hand at destroying her anyway, you're going to find out quickly how fruitless that will be. You haven't had the proper training yet, and even if you did I wouldn't allow it to happen.
[He doesn't like 18, but she is Krillin's wife, their daughter is friends with Bulla and they need 18 here to fight just as much as anyone else. And he does not need 18 suffering from a death penalty just because Trunks lost his mind.]

[Well, that's just rude. But he keeps going on before he realizes he. Has no idea where he's going. But really, Vegeta, can you blame him for this reaction? One of the androids that killed you, killed everyone else, laughs in Trunks' face while they beat him to near-death, is right here and you're saying she's different and almost normal. The same android whose eyes haunt him when he tries to sleep.
Don't even try to tell him she's 'okay' just because it's a different timeline. Those kinds of experiences just can't be erased, can't be ignored.]
What else should I know.

[Unfortunately, Vegeta could never come to completely understand what's happened to Trunks, as he didn't live that experience- and his empathy isn't exactly top notch.]
Listen, it's not going to do you any good to dwell on it now. It is what it is. As I said before, you're not going to be here much longer so you might as well enjoy it while you can. We'll take care of things here, I promise you that.

But if I can find a way to help while I'm here, it might be useful to know whatever I can.

[And now it's Vegeta's turn to look a little solemn.]
As much as it pains me to say, we're in no position to be doing much of anything around here. Not until we get more information, and even then. We have to wait for the right opportunity to strike. Trunks, this isn't like home. I can't just blast my way out of it. They could send me alone out to destroy our enemies, and it wouldn't matter.
They come back to life after a week. Permanent death does not exist here, except in a ritual that only an extremist group called the Third Party can perform. Sacrificial rituals, one of the most repulsive things I've ever seen. That barrier that holds us in, it keeps them out. And even then. They've breached it before.

[And he stops himself. He can't think of a non-emotional way to say, 'I'm not leaving you here, you're coming back home with me.' Not to mention he'd want to take everyone back and with what little it sounds like they know, he isn't sure how that'd work. The entire situation from the time he woke up here has been ridiculous, but he's determined to find a way. Even if he only has a couple of days.
His voice gets quiet. Defeated.]
Then. I'll enjoy the time with you and everyone while I'm here.

I know that wasn't what you wanted to hear. But I'm not going to sugar coat it for you. You just have to believe me when I tell you that we will be alright. We have been making progress, it's just been slow going. Besides. Not everything here is all gloom and doom. We have a lot of friends here, ones from other worlds. It makes life a little more bearable than you think.
no subject
But you're still stuck here. Along with everyone else and whatever these-- things are doing to you here.
wow i just texted at you i'm sorry
It's true that as luck would have it, one can be sent back home. But just as easily as they left, they can return; years later, without any recollection of their stay here. I've...been here once before, from what others have told me, and I don't recall ever visiting this place. We found records that the very same people who reside here today appeared in Luceti's past hundreds of years ago.
If we don't do something about it, nothing will change, and we could find ourselves here over and over again, to experience new horrors and more dangers. An endless war where the only victor is fate itself. And I don't know about you but I control my own fate, not some otherworldly force that decides it's my time to pay in again.

He doesn't want to believe there isn't anything he can do. That simply cannot be the end of it. It's his father. His father and their friends and their friends that they've made here that are trapped in this weird cycle and he has to find a way to help.
He takes a breath and stops, turning to face Vegeta, eyes determined and unwavering.]
Then I'm staying.
no subject
You can't.
[It's painfully objective.]
You don't get the choice to stay. I do not have the choice to stay. When we are sent back home, we go, and that's that. As much as I'd like to return home, I also hope the day does not come that I leave because I have unfinished business here. I would allow you to stay if you had the choice, but sadly that is not the case. That is simply how this world works, Trunks. You may return here someday. But for what is happening now, you will leave, willing or not. This- [He gestures to indicate all of Luceti-] happened a year ago as well, when strange visitors without wings arrived without warning, and disappeared without a trace two days later.
I'm sorry Trunks, but you're going to have to accept the fact that you don't get a say in this. It may be different one day, but for now this is the reality of the matter.

[It's his immediate impulse, wants to scream it at the top of his lungs but it's only Vegeta here and Vegeta understands the frustration. He can't help that his hands ball up into fists, his heels digging solidly against the ground]
It isn't right, and you know it! I can't just--
[Growls under his breath, this is so so ridiculous and unfair]
I can't just leave all of you here! I can't!
There has to be SOMETHING I can do!
no subject
That's enough. You're worrying about us too much. But what you can do is make your mother and siblings happy by showing up to see them. Even things as small as that matter a great deal in this place. [Even though they wouldn't remember Trunks after the fact, but he keeps his trap shut about that.]
no subject
[He stares at Vegeta, balking at the mere thought that he was 'caring too much']
How can I care too much, you're-- You're family. My family.
[Kind of.
Okay maybe not. Entirely but it's really close in that weird timey wimey kind of way.]
no subject
What, are you trying to say that you don't trust me to take care of them? [Probably not the right question to ask right now...]
no subject
That's not what I said.
