[He'd thought a lot about this, long and hard. But even with all the evidence presented to him over the past year and a half, that still was never enough for him. He didn't want to rely on anything else to fight, he had his own power and his own strength. But being caught like he did so many times on the draft by shifters, relying solely on his own natural strength to survive- there had just been too many close calls.

And he had needed help more than once. How much that ate at his mind was unfathomable except to a few. One day no one was going to be there to help him, even if he hated the very idea of needing help. And if he wasn't ready, where would he be? Put into a position that he allowed for himself to be in, to die. To be sacrificed, like he was already by that bomb the cultists used on them. And next time, he wouldn't be so lucky and he knew it. He still had his reservations about contacting the spirits. But, he felt as if he couldn't avoid it much longer.

Too many what ifs. What if even something so small from the spirits would have helped him? He was sick of it, sick of knowing that might be the only thing he could rely on against their enemy. The only thing that worked when all his other powers were disabled. But even so, there's still more he wanted to know. Because if there's anything he hates, it's wasting time on things that are pointless.]

[The video feed flickers on, revealing the face of the prince, looking as serious as ever. He gets straight to the point.]

I must know. For those of you who are in contact with the spirits here, what use do you find in their power? Especially in combat. I might even have the patience to listen to a story or two regarding that, as I find it incredibly important in this matter. [He glances off to the side, knowing how this goes in Luceti.]

I know some of you would prefer to speak in person about such things. I'll be at Mythoria Café later tonight. But I won't stay long.

[As always, he's easily found. During the day, either at House 29 or the Battle Dome training, with both his sword or with his abilities. He does keep his word, appearing at Mythoria Café after he's done training and showered for the day.]

[ Well Helios won't answer Vegeta immediately when he asks that question. He'll wait until the other man is at the cafe to speak to him about the spirits here. He'll be slowly going through the tables handing out menus and drinks to people when he reaches Vegeta's table. ]

Mm I heard your question about the spirits today. Perhaps I could answer anything anyone hasn't mentioned already. But before that, would you like anything to eat or drink?

Silver clicks on video and adjusts his camera so Feraligatr- his big blue alligator Pokémon that's casually smiling behind him- can be seen.]

I'm not much of a fighter in my own right, but I could keep my Pokémon healed through that last draft with Nala's help. [But the healing benefit should be pretty obvious. ]

With Sona's teachings, you can pull water from moisture in the air with enough practice, so it's instant water wherever you go. Hydration doesn't end up being as much of a problem. [Sure, that's more of a survival benefit than a combat one, but the two often go hand in hand.] Water's got all kinds of uses in a fight, too.

[misterbrief]

[He's not surprised to see Helios when he reaches Vegeta's table. It is the man's café, after all.]

I'd take a drink. I don't care what it is. Just so long as it's good.

[He peers through the video at Feraligatr. That's a new one, and it's just as ugly as some of the other Pokémon he's seen too.]

Does it now. [He can see the benefit in that. He'd run out of water while on the draft.] Why don't you go ahead and tell how in the world water would help in a fight. I don't want to give the enemy a shower, you know.

[Well despite the fact that they train together in the mornings, Saori doesn't bring up the journal entry until that evening. The cafe's muted lighting feels more appropriate to talk about spirits in general, and Saori generally finds it a comforting atmosphere.

Collecting her usual Mythoria order (not fish and rice for once), and an extra plate of sushi for her friend, Saori just takes a seat in the booth across from him. Sliding over the extra, she gives him a soft smile. There isn't any teasing to her this time, because hey, this is somewhat serious. And a topic close to her heart.]

So you want to know what sorts of things the spirits here can do?

[He watches her slide in, taking the plate. She'd gotten him his favorite, and he eats one before he answers.]

Yeah. Hopefully more than just the basics.

[Well after all this time, one would hope she knew that much. While he talks, she starts mixing her curry and rice and meat all up. That's hard work, okay?]

May I ask what sparked the question, first? I thought you didn't care for magic.

[misterbrief]

I don't. [He eyes her own meal. She must be hungry, to be eating that much.]

But the amount of times I was disabled was absurd. [He figured he was the most unlucky out of everyone on the draft, he swears.] I must of run into every single shifter in the whole place.

[windandrain]

[Totally hungry...]

Oh, you didn't run into all of them. I ran into my fair share. That was, in large part, why I decided to learn how to use a gun. It was very helpful.[She'll take a bite before continuing on.] But it's a sound thought. It might give you an edge, though...it will attract those damn dogs.

[misterbrief]

That's why I have a sword. If those dogs show up, I'll remove their heads from their bodies faster than you can blink. I'm not totally helpless even when there is a blasted shifter around.

[His sushi isn't lasting very long, as he gobbles up a few more quickly.]

[Good, because she'd told whoever was in the kitchen to bring more every so often.]

All things considered, that might even be useful. If you draw them in, it keeps them from going after the others here who don't know how to use an edged weapon.

[misterbrief]

I hope they aren't too sore because I'm getting to have all the fun. [Because only Vegeta would think that fighting shift hunters would be fun.]

[windandrain]

I'm sure nobody else will mind. That's an effective strategy, and definitely something useful about filial magic. [She does it herself, after all.]

But hardly the only useful thing. Which element should I start with?

[misterbrief]

It makes no difference to me. You know me, start with something that fits my style.

[windandrain]

Then we'll start with the most useful, because you are practical.

[She holds up a hand and calls up an orb of blue light.]

Nala. The healing spirit. It's the easiest to contact. And it can reverse most injuries, dull pain, even repair broken bones. Honestly, it's the one I use the most.

[misterbrief]

I figured as such. [That it's the most useful, and that it would be the first to be brought up.]

I already know plenty about that one from the mere fact that I've been healed from it many times. I want to know more about the other spirits.

[windandrain]

[Sigh, alright, have it your way.]

Then knowing you? And how often you and I work together?

Tsinku. The lightning spirit. It's power mostly is to generate and redirect electricity. You could, for instance, redirect natural lightning. Or call it from pre-existing storm clouds, if you practice it enough.

Useful for conserving your own energy, since I can create those thunderheads without much effort, but I've seen how tiring days of ki-blasts can be for you. It's hard for me, too. That's why I keep storms around me most of the time, so I can just draw on and redirect that energy.

Once you've trained with it enough, you can generate electricity from your own body too. But...honestly I never use that because it's much weaker than my own, and natural lightning.

[misterbrief]

[He listens, and thinks about it. That would be useful, but what if he's indoors?]

And does using this power tax the body at all? Because honestly, that's something I'd like to avoid if at all possible. I've got quite a bit of fight in me, but after this last draft, I'd rather not risk it. I'm not always going to have a storm around me to redirect electricity.

Alright. I'll be back momentarily. [ Helios will make the other a drink similar to this. It's not perfectly made, but Helios is sure glad he has a book on how to make drinks with him here. Without even being a bartender himself he's gotten decent at it. It's probably not as good as some other's in the enclosure but he's managing. Though Vegeta might think it a bit strong... ]

[He's totally seen her move a storm inside with her.]

Generating it, yes. But redirecting it? No, no more than punching, really. Don't use it if you're around a storm. The reason I suggest it first is because I can show you how to use it better than anyone else here, and I'm the one who'd be supplying the energy on the draft. So you'd be getting live practice with me immediately.

[Teamwork.]

And it'd provide a good framework for being able to focus the energy, as lightning is more random than fire, which would make the other spirits easier to control.

[misterbrief]

[He takes the glass, swirling the liquid inside of it. And without much ado, he downs it in one gulp, setting the glass back down. He says nothing of the quality, because he's really not a connoisseur of alcohol, nor does he care that much. He mainly drinks beer.]

Now. I suppose you have a minute to sit.

[misterbrief]

[He's not sure how comfortable he's going to be calling lightning out of storm clouds, let alone control lightning at all, but it would be useful. Especially if he gets into a fix.]

I still haven't decided on if I even want to attempt to contact the spirits yet. Don't get ahead of yourself. Besides, I'm not going to always have you around during a draft. We were separated quite a bit during this last draft. So it's important, that if I decide to go through with this, that I learn to generate it myself and train my body to be able to withstand higher amounts of voltage over time.

[windandrain]

[She gives him a level look.]

You missed the part where I said it would help you learn to control other elements as well. It's a stepping stone, because you have to start somewhere.

And don't forget I can cover an entire battlefield with a storm. You don't have to be right next to me.

Next, as far as offensive magic goes is Eferin, the flame spirit. He'll let you create and control flame. That should be relatively self-explanatory.

[ It had been a long time since she'd seen him last...

Adela blinked as she opened the door to the battle dome room, sword at her waist as she had just come from the forge for her daily practice. To see him well is, without her having to say so, a relief. Seeing Vegeta in good health is more than relieving... Perhaps he had not met the same fate as she had heard whispers of in the village.

Either way, she was at ease to see him there. Hm, he had his sword though... She had to wonder just how Vegeta worked with it. ]

[misterbrief]

[He sits back with his arms folded, wearing a grouchy expression. Always lecturing him, he just can't get away from it he swears.]

I don't want anything to do with Eferin. The nerve of that thing. [He's still bitter about being possessed, and he's not hiding it.]
