[He'd thought a lot about this, long and hard. But even with all the evidence presented to him over the past year and a half, that still was never enough for him. He didn't want to rely on anything else to fight, he had his own power and his own strength. But being caught like he did so many times on the draft by shifters, relying solely on his own natural strength to survive- there had just been too many close calls.

And he had needed help more than once. How much that ate at his mind was unfathomable except to a few. One day no one was going to be there to help him, even if he hated the very idea of needing help. And if he wasn't ready, where would he be? Put into a position that he allowed for himself to be in, to die. To be sacrificed, like he was already by that bomb the cultists used on them. And next time, he wouldn't be so lucky and he knew it. He still had his reservations about contacting the spirits. But, he felt as if he couldn't avoid it much longer.

Too many what ifs. What if even something so small from the spirits would have helped him? He was sick of it, sick of knowing that might be the only thing he could rely on against their enemy. The only thing that worked when all his other powers were disabled. But even so, there's still more he wanted to know. Because if there's anything he hates, it's wasting time on things that are pointless.]

[The video feed flickers on, revealing the face of the prince, looking as serious as ever. He gets straight to the point.]

I must know. For those of you who are in contact with the spirits here, what use do you find in their power? Especially in combat. I might even have the patience to listen to a story or two regarding that, as I find it incredibly important in this matter. [He glances off to the side, knowing how this goes in Luceti.]

I know some of you would prefer to speak in person about such things. I'll be at Mythoria Café later tonight. But I won't stay long.

[As always, he's easily found. During the day, either at House 29 or the Battle Dome training, with both his sword or with his abilities. He does keep his word, appearing at Mythoria Café after he's done training and showered for the day.]

I figured as such. [That it's the most useful, and that it would be the first to be brought up.]

I already know plenty about that one from the mere fact that I've been healed from it many times. I want to know more about the other spirits.

[windandrain]

[Sigh, alright, have it your way.]

Then knowing you? And how often you and I work together?

Tsinku. The lightning spirit. It's power mostly is to generate and redirect electricity. You could, for instance, redirect natural lightning. Or call it from pre-existing storm clouds, if you practice it enough.

Useful for conserving your own energy, since I can create those thunderheads without much effort, but I've seen how tiring days of ki-blasts can be for you. It's hard for me, too. That's why I keep storms around me most of the time, so I can just draw on and redirect that energy.

Once you've trained with it enough, you can generate electricity from your own body too. But...honestly I never use that because it's much weaker than my own, and natural lightning.

[misterbrief]

[He listens, and thinks about it. That would be useful, but what if he's indoors?]

And does using this power tax the body at all? Because honestly, that's something I'd like to avoid if at all possible. I've got quite a bit of fight in me, but after this last draft, I'd rather not risk it. I'm not always going to have a storm around me to redirect electricity.

[windandrain]

[He's totally seen her move a storm inside with her.]

Generating it, yes. But redirecting it? No, no more than punching, really. Don't use it if you're around a storm. The reason I suggest it first is because I can show you how to use it better than anyone else here, and I'm the one who'd be supplying the energy on the draft. So you'd be getting live practice with me immediately.

[Teamwork.]

And it'd provide a good framework for being able to focus the energy, as lightning is more random than fire, which would make the other spirits easier to control.

[misterbrief]

[He's not sure how comfortable he's going to be calling lightning out of storm clouds, let alone control lightning at all, but it would be useful. Especially if he gets into a fix.]

I still haven't decided on if I even want to attempt to contact the spirits yet. Don't get ahead of yourself. Besides, I'm not going to always have you around during a draft. We were separated quite a bit during this last draft. So it's important, that if I decide to go through with this, that I learn to generate it myself and train my body to be able to withstand higher amounts of voltage over time.

[windandrain]

[She gives him a level look.]

You missed the part where I said it would help you learn to control other elements as well. It's a stepping stone, because you have to start somewhere.

And don't forget I can cover an entire battlefield with a storm. You don't have to be right next to me.

[Honestly...]

Next, as far as offensive magic goes is Eferin, the flame spirit. He'll let you create and control flame. That should be relatively self-explanatory.

[misterbrief]

[He sits back with his arms folded, wearing a grouchy expression. Always lecturing him, he just can't get away from it he swears.]

I don't want anything to do with Eferin. The nerve of that thing. [He's still bitter about being possessed, and he's not hiding it.]

[Oh...she'd forgotten!]

Alright, then we'll just move on to Kipinn, the wind spirit. The main way I've seen people use it is to speed their movements, and silence their movements as well. Stilling the vibrations in the air to make it easier to move around without being heard. Like I do, actually.

[misterbrief]

Hold on a second, before you just go spouting off about every spirit available. I know that these spirits can be difficult to contact depending on the person trying to contact them. Will I even be able to get a hold of Tsinku?

[He doesn't even know if Tsinku would bother with him. He's well aware of his own personality.]

[windandrain]

You asked for an overview, Vegeta.

And it depends, but yes, I think you can manage Tsinku. And with enough thought, you can contact any of them. Tsinku should be easy enough, considering your relationship with me.

[misterbrief]

I don't see how that would help at all. I don't exactly have the power to be going around zapping things with lightning like you do.

[Oh little does he know?]

[windandrain]

And? Don't forget that you have a connection to me. It attunes you to the power of a storm. That's how it helps. You're more in touch with that than before.

[misterbrief]

Well, I certainly don't feel much more in tune with one.

[Or at all. But he guesses he'll take her word for it.]

[windandrain]

Trust me. I do feel it. It's a lot stronger than when we met. It will help with that contact. And perhaps Sona and Kippin too, if you want to try them.

[misterbrief]

I guess it's worth a shot. [He didn't think that would make it easier for him. He figured it would take double the amount of time for him to get in touch with those spirits, given how impatient he is.]

This whole spirit business still bothers me. It's shifting.

[windandrain]

It's a different kind of power, like a sword. It has it's uses and it's place.

[And he can be impatient, yes, but those spirits do tend to gravitate towards certain kinds of people.]

You think it's shifting? I'm not entirely sure I'd agree with you. It's native to Luceti, but perhaps not necessarily this world.

[misterbrief]

That's not the information I received. [He was told it was shifting.]

[windandrain]

By? Because you realize it's unique to our enclosure.

[misterbrief]

That boy Shikamaru. Unless he was misinformed.

[windandrain]

It's similar to some of the things the enemy uses, but I wouldn't consider it technically the same, as the origins of it are bound up with the spirits. Which we know are contained inside our barrier.

[misterbrief]

Well, I don't know where he got his information from but it would make perfect sense to call it the same thing. Just not nearly as powerful.

[A power not able to be disabled, can be used anywhere on this planet- sounds like shifting to him.]

[windandrain]

Well, I don't see why there's an issue with that, even if you label it that way. And if it is, that just means it's even more important to learn to use it, honestly. An open doorway into the power of this world could be useful later.

[Practicality.]

[misterbrief]

That's just the thing. I've always pondered if that same power would drive the user mad one day. Or be the start to something else.

[Maybe getting a hold of that thing they were sacrificed to.]

[windandrain]

That's why it's important to remember the reason to seek power, I believe. And to never, ever let the quest for that strength override that reason.

Power without restraint corrupts. But the magic granted by the majority of the spirits is so limited I doubt it'd be strong enough to corrupt you or me. It has a narrow use, and the purpose you want to learn to wield it for isn't for the power itself.

[misterbrief]

[He stays silent, thinking back. This power they were talking about was very little, but he would love to be more powerful, just not at the cost of getting it from somewhere else unless absolutely necessary.]

I hope you're right. The last thing I need is to give them another soldier in their army.
