He gives her a look. He's not convinced, but she knows a lot more about spirits than he does.

"If you say so," he spits out, more at the spirits themselves really than at her. "I don't trust them. Not after last year. They had no right to invade our bodies like that, Twila or not. Besides. What other spirits are there? I thought the only spirits on this backwater planet were the ones in Luceti."

[windandrain]

"There are others. I'm not familiar with the names, but they're the ones making the turbulence, I believe." She returns his look levelly, not at all put off. Things would have to change, or the vines would just keep on making their lives miserable.

"And what I'm thinking has nothing to do with allowing yourself to be possessed. But...we'll have to ask the spirits to help us fight them. Counteract the vine's elements, somehow."

[misterbrief]

"What's so special about the spirits that we've got to ask them for help? My power is far greater than their own, they're not going to be able to do a darn thing."

[windandrain]

"Can you burn anything? Are you able to use fire, at all?"

[misterbrief]

"Ah-" No, no he can't.

"So what if I can't?"

[windandrain]

"Fire, dear, has the added benefit of purifying and breaking apart magical bonds. Particularly natural ones, like the vines. If you could use Fire, and I used Wind we could counter the vines and stop them from bothering us. Fire to destroy the Nature, and Wind to scatter the Earth."

[misterbrief]

"...."

Fire. That's...exactly what he didn't want to hear.

"You're asking me to speak to Eferin, aren't you." Him, of all of them, why. That's the second to last spirit in all of Luceti that he wants to talk to. "It takes time to be able to speak to them anyway. There's no way I'd be able to get a word in with that freak. We need that power now. It's simply not possible."

That's his excuse and he's sticking to it.

[windandrain]

"Vegeta, the spirits are here. In Luceti. I know that you'll be able to contact him if you ask."

You see this face? She's having none of it, grumpy.

"You'll have to ask, because Eferin won't speak to me at all. I don't have the connection to fire."

[misterbrief]

He looks completely offended at the very idea that he's got to contact Eferin at all. He doesn't want to. She can't make him. She's not his real dad.

"We don't need his help. We can figure it out without him."

[windandrain]

She sighs and shakes her head.

"Magical fire is all I can think of. Blasting won't work."

[misterbrief]

"...."

"..........."

Does he really have to do this. He really, really doesn't want to and it goes against his pride to ask something like that for help.

"Well, I don't know how to speak with that hot-headed boogieman, so you're out of luck."

[windandrain]

"I do," she answers quickly and with a little smile. "I just can't do it myself. I've tried."

[misterbrief]

"Good for you." He folds his arms. He swears he won't do it, he won't he won't he won't...

[windandrain]

"We need to do this, you know. I know it's troublesome...but is it worse than dealing with the vines?"

[misterbrief]

He wants to just say yes and be done with it to avoid having to talk to Eferin. Instead he glares at her, his expression saying 'yes, that would absolutely kill me to do', growling and tapping a finger against his arm.

"Well, how do you do it, tell me, so we can get this over with."

[windandrain]

"We'll have to go into the forest, and meditate on the two of them. It should be easy enough, and then we can get rid of that pest once and for all."

Her eyes flicker with annoyance. Because she really wants this done. Please don't flake on her, Grumpy.

[misterbrief]

He heads towards his door, not saying anything now that he's got some socks on and grabbed a hoodie that he slips over his head as he exits. Annoying. He doesn't even think this will work. But he grabs his purple boots, and waits at the door.

Fine. He'll go. But he won't like it and he'll be a pain in the ass about it because he has to so something that hurts his pride a little to do. And act like a baby. He's really good at acting like a brat.

She follows him to the door, silently smiling to herself as she tugs it open and steps out into the chilly air. Her feet leave the ground and she starts off towards the north.

"I know a place, it's not far."

[misterbrief]

"Lead the way," he says in a mock excited tone. "I can't wait to speak with the spirit who had the audacity to take control of my body. Maybe this time I'll get to follow through with killing someone! Won't that be fun?"

[windandrain]

"Well, you'll be killing vines, so that's a blessing."

She leads them out over towards the mountains, a small clearing in the foothills the destination. Setting down, she tosses out two meditation mats and sits.

"Just take a seat and concentrate and we'll get this over with."

[misterbrief]

The amount of not excited he is. It's over nine-thousand.

He sits down on the mat, grumbling still. Okay great. He's on a mat. In the woods. Doing nothing.

Concentrate on what.

This is stupid.

"I think I heard a piece of grass grow."

[windandrain]

"Did you now?" she answers mildly. Vegeta, grow up.

Of course, he isn't entirely wrong. A vine pokes it's head out of the grass and seems to be looking out at them.

"Just...try and think of fire. Because I feel the spirit coming."

[misterbrief]

He glances over at the vine and zaps it with a finger beam. That's bad. That means it's coming.

"Great. Just what I need." He breathes out heavily in frustration, and closes his eyes. It's hard to meditate though when you know something is on its way and it's going to try to do something to you. He thinks of fire. Bonfires, burning cities like what he used to do, lighting the entire forest aflame because that sounds like a great idea right about now, anything that involves fire and probably destruction right alongside it.

But he's also impatient. How long is this going to take?

Luckily, that's sort of what Eferin was waiting on. The spirit's sense enters his general vicinity, and there's an unspoken question there. What do you want him to do? Do you want to stop the vine monster? Are you willing to let him do the work?

[misterbrief]

At first, he's surprised. He didn't think he'd get an answer, and he's never contacted a spirit before. His ears perk up, looking around, but then he realizes he's not going to see Eferin. Closing his eyes once more, he tries to communicate somehow. He doesn't know. She told him that they needed magical fire so he's here to ask about stupid magical fire. Apparently, he's the one that's got to do it since there's some kind of connection between himself and Eferin, which is might he remind the spirit, because he possessed his body at one time and he's still not happy about it.

But Vegeta does make it clear that he wants to kill the stupid vines. He wants them gone and if that means he has to shoot fireballs from his hands again, he will. Because blasting doesn't work. They just grow back.
