[It's been a few days since Father's Day. And he got a really nice surprise from his daughter that he never thought possible. Bulla training and honing her skills and power, it really meant something to him; so he's flipping his journal open now since Luceti played a large part of it. He's not even angry this time.]

It's come to my attention that a good number of you had a hand in the gift I received over the weekend. I will say I'm impressed- the lot of you have done the impossible with my daughter Bulla and it most certainly paid off. So for that...[His voice trails off, since saying these sorts of things isn't exactly natural to him.] For that I am grateful. I know a good portion of the time we are safe inside this barrier, but you must understand that I worry for her safety regardless.

So I suppose this is the part where I ask something else not so specific. The gift I received was for your Earthling holiday Father's Day. I've never put much stock in such things, but this last weekend certainly has changed my mind about it a little. Is this something you also observe in your own worlds? And if so, what is it that you've done or would do that you would consider worthy of your father?

Sounds easy to please. Though I wouldn't blame him for that, if anyone spilled anything all over me they'd be hard-pressed to find a good doctor when I was through with them.

Of course she did. She's my daughter. Though you almost blew her surprise, you idiot! Don't you know how to keep that big mouth of yours shut? [He'll get around to thanking Lee after he's yelled at him.]

I don't know, do you know a blue-haired teenager who only knows shopping and makeovers? Because if you do, that would be her, she's hard to miss.

That's right there isn't a problem with it. [Ah he called him old again, Vegeta can practically feel his insides wrenching at the reality of it.]

That's her! I do know your daughter, Avatar Vegeta! She's really great!

Well, I suppose I have the advantage of perspective, here. Humans have a tendency to...well...they tend to overcome situations they have no right to overcome. I admire tenacity.

[She won't say it but it's one of the qualities in Vegeta she admires as well]

Really? And how might I ask did the two of you end up speaking? You don't exactly come off as the mall-crawling type.

Hmf. They certainly don't give up, that's for sure. Always looking for a way to win no matter what the stakes or how daunting the task is. Trust me, I know first hand. It's one thing to watch them overcome it and it's another to be on the receiving end of the deal.

Air kinda is a thing, you know. [As interesting as underwater combat sounded, he still needed to breathe. No number of sidekicks or uppercuts would work if he was choking while delivering the blows.]

There's limits to what I can do with her, but she's still someone who would think of this as 'working out' and not as 'defense training.' I'm just gonna try to mix things up for her if she decides to call me up for a few rounds one day.

You're right. I've never ridden a mall-crawler before, but it does sound like a really cool creature. But I only talked to Bulla over the journal. It was when she first got here!

Well... Papa's a painter, so I'd like to try creative things, too. I'd like to see if that part of him really is in me, too. Maybe that's why I like things like sewing or knitting; it isn't art, but it's still something I make on my own, choosing the patterns and colors and stitches, too. I like music, too.

You're not very patient with accidents, I take it. [Which seems to be putting it mildly, if he can imagine hitting a kid for spilling food.]

Oh, believe me, I know that as well. They've fought against my kind before, and overcome some of the lesser kami. Of course they've never really tested themselves against one of my family though. But it's difficult to start a fight with a mountain that walks or a thunderstorm.

[She shrugs]

It's not important though. Your daughter'll grow up to be a great fighter.

When she kept going on about the great fighter her dad was, I never thought in a million years it could be you.

Of course air is a 'thing'. You learn to deal without it for long periods of time. I think you should try it sometime. [Don't believe him Cliff, Saiyans are freaks like that.]

[He gives a little bit of a questioning look at the camera.] Call you huh? So it's not just me having delusions, she's really going to continue on her training. Well. Let me give you a little bit of advice.

With a girl like her, a lot of motivation comes from rewards. Dangle it in front of her face and you've practically got her on the hook. [You'd think Vegeta could take his own advice.]

How like you to greet her when she- [Wait a second.] No, no, no. That's not what a mall-crawler is, it's a term Earthlings use to describe those of them who spend most of their day at a mall doing galaxy knows what. Don't tell me you don't know what a mall is.

[He..doesn't really get art. It was another one of those Earthling things that he found to be a waste of time, but he didn't care if her father made a career out of it- it's just something Vegeta would probably never try himself. Except music. He can understand that.]

Well, if you like music so much why don't you try it out? Last I checked that fell under the category of art forms on Earth, if that's where you're from.
