[It's been a few days since Father's Day. And he got a really nice surprise from his daughter that he never thought possible. Bulla training and honing her skills and power, it really meant something to him; so he's flipping his journal open now since Luceti played a large part of it. He's not even angry this time.]

It's come to my attention that a good number of you had a hand in the gift I received over the weekend. I will say I'm impressed- the lot of you have done the impossible with my daughter Bulla and it most certainly paid off. So for that...[His voice trails off, since saying these sorts of things isn't exactly natural to him.] For that I am grateful. I know a good portion of the time we are safe inside this barrier, but you must understand that I worry for her safety regardless.

So I suppose this is the part where I ask something else not so specific. The gift I received was for your Earthling holiday Father's Day. I've never put much stock in such things, but this last weekend certainly has changed my mind about it a little. Is this something you also observe in your own worlds? And if so, what is it that you've done or would do that you would consider worthy of your father?

[Well he did help out, and it was sort of fun. But he considers a moment. What would he do for Father Fujimoto? And he feels bad he did nothing here but...]

I guess I'd bring him some stuff for his grave. Maybe some oden. That's his favorite, after all.

I see. [So, his father was dead. Hopefully he'd gone to Heaven, because from experience Vegeta knows Hell is not the place anyone wants to be.]

Even in the afterlife, I'm sure he would appreciate that. Perhaps he might return from the dead for one day to be able to partake of that dish.

-What do you mean return from the dead. Unless you're here, people don't just come back.

[Training Bulla was something she'd promised to do not long after she'd met Vegeta, though when they'd talked about it they'd come up with some complex scheme. Saori had been pretty surprised that Bulla had just so willingly, and oddly touched at the reasons why.]

You're welcome, my friend. Bulla was a wonderful student, and I enjoyed working with her.

[He chuckles lightly, not surprised much by the response.]

I should have known. Which style did you teach her?

[Cliff smiled, glad that his rounds of paintball with Bulla had helped a little. She was able to dodge the shots, if she focused. It was a treat to work with her.]

You're a real lucky dog, you know. Bulla's a sweet, talented girl, and not many guys who have daughters 'round her age can say that.

[misterbrief]

You act like I didn't already know that. [He's still grinning over the camera though.] I'm quite proud of her, though I'm interested to know what exactly you did to help her. I hope it was grueling.

I think daddy would be proud of the training I've done here, with grandpa. I'm...I'm really getting better! Normally, it'd be him training me, but...I think if he came back, I could show him more than I could have before.

[Oh her. Well, he did ask the question so he's got to deal with the consequences of whoever answers. And come on Vegeta. She's just a little kid.]

Well, if anything at all you'd certainly make him proud by training that hard. You really think you could show your old man what for?

A day for dads? [Hey, look Vegeta, it's your new buddy Haru! Except something might seem different about his appearance, since his expression no longer looks glossy-eyed and creepy like it did the last time you met.]

Man, I don't think a thing like that exists in my world, but I really kinda wish it did.

[misterbrief]

[OH YAY IT'S HIS NEW BUDDY HARU, JUST WHO HE WANTS TO SEE. Thank the stars for that though. Haru really creeped him out.]

Yes, there's an entire blasted day for fathers. We didn't have one either on my home planet but apparently Earth does. It's sickeningly sentimental if you ask me. [You enjoyed it Vegeta shut up]

You did what?! You mean to tell me you really did spar with her?

Yes Aang, I do. I'm surprised you haven't met her yet, she's quite the social butterfly.

[precipitous]

[ Wait. Wait, rewind for second. Repeat. What.

You're Bulla's dad? You're kidding.

[Oh yes. Yes way.]

You mean you didn't know? I at least knew about you speaking with my daughter. What planet have you been living on?

[In a way, Father's Day will always be a sad moment to her. Her dad left her and her mom when she was still little, and she hasn't seen him since. There's an occasional, very occasional, sketch or postcard from his travels, but... it's not enough to a lonely girl who wishes for a intact family.

She decides to give the much better and more positive answer. There is one, after all, and it's something she's thought about a lot, too:]

I haven't really celebrated that sort of holiday, but I think I'd like to show him that part of me comes from who he is, too. That we share some of our interests and thinking, and that I've inherited some of his good points.

[He listens, and actually understands what she's getting at. He feels that way too sometimes about his own father.]

And how exactly would you go about showing him these things?

[Well, Vegeta... you get to meet Daria, who's never exactly been the family-oriented type.]

A card and maybe cooking breakfast was usually enough to keep Dad from freaking out too much, unless Quinn managed to spill the breakfast all over him.

[This should be interesting.]

Sounds easy to please. Though I wouldn't blame him for that, if anyone spilled anything all over me they'd be hard-pressed to find a good doctor when I was through with them.

As one of those people that helped Bulla, I'm glad to do you a service, Vegeta! You know, she's much stronger than I imagined she'd be. [ Tenten didn't think she would be punched right through a tree but you know... ]

[misterbrief]

Did you now? It certainly showed. [Meaning, thanks Tenten.] What was it that the two of you ended up doing together then? [He smirks, he's so proud of his daughter.]

Huh, so you're a dad, huh? That's news to me.

[She can't help but grin, though. Given this guy's temper, his daughter must have her hands full.]

But if we're talking stuff to be proud of, I'd say helping defeat Nightmare Moon and winning the Best Young Flier competition are some pretty awesome accomplishments.

Well, that's because I didn't exactly share. But yes, I am. A daughter and a son. [If Trunks ever shows up he's going to think his dad is crazy for talking to a pony. A couple of ponies, even.]

I've happened to notice you pride yourself on those flight skills of yours. Is that something rather important or something in your pony world of Equestria?
