[It's been a few days since Father's Day. And he got a really nice surprise from his daughter that he never thought possible. Bulla training and honing her skills and power, it really meant something to him; so he's flipping his journal open now since Luceti played a large part of it. He's not even angry this time.]

It's come to my attention that a good number of you had a hand in the gift I received over the weekend. I will say I'm impressed- the lot of you have done the impossible with my daughter Bulla and it most certainly paid off. So for that...[His voice trails off, since saying these sorts of things isn't exactly natural to him.] For that I am grateful. I know a good portion of the time we are safe inside this barrier, but you must understand that I worry for her safety regardless.

So I suppose this is the part where I ask something else not so specific. The gift I received was for your Earthling holiday Father's Day. I've never put much stock in such things, but this last weekend certainly has changed my mind about it a little. Is this something you also observe in your own worlds? And if so, what is it that you've done or would do that you would consider worthy of your father?

Neither do they where I'm from either, but- it's been known to happen a few times. Though the circumstances from what I understand have to be very extreme. If your father was a great man there's a small possibility, depending on how gracious the fool paper pusher in Other World is.

Father Fujimoto's the best man there's ever been. He used to be the Paladin, the strongest exorcist, and he's also the coolest guy ever. [But... that still doesn't seem right. Because if that was the case, wouldn't Koneko's parents come back? Or Shiemi's grandmother]

The coolest guy ever huh? [He can't help but mock that statement.] So what, your world is plagued with demons if he's an exorcist?

Yeah and yep. I'm an exorcist in training myself.

So, you and Shiemi both. Interesting. [She'd mentioned they could summon demons. Well, just not here.] Then I bet you know an awful lot about Hell if that's the case. Gehn-something or whatever it is you call it.

[It's been a while and he's surprised he remembered that much of the name.]

Gehenna. ... That's Hell though, like where souls go? I thought that's just where demons came from, and souls go somewhere else. [He'd not really connected the two, and only memorized the one name because Yukio had insisted. Somehow, he'd always figured that the afterlife where souls go can't be the same as the demon world]

How would I know? It was mentioned to me but not explained in depth. I didn't know there were two different realms of existence for each. I've never heard of such a thing. Though perhaps if that's the case maybe your father wouldn't come back from the dead.

Doesn't matter anyway, 'cus Father Fujimoto wouldn't be going to Hell in the first place! [ . . . ] But you know Shiemi?

Well at least there's that. I hope you're absolutely certain. [Good, because Hell sucks.] And yes, she and I met quite a while back. For someone who is supposed to have the power to control demons she's got quite the faint heart.

[She's very timid around him. GOSH, WONDER WHY.]

-Hey. She ain't faint of heart. Shiemi's very strong, and keeps up with the rest of us well.

Don't get your feathers all bent out of shape. I know she is, she just doesn't pride herself much in anything at all. [He's started to learn 'strong' has a lot of different definitions, if his daughter is any example of it. Neither Bulla nor Shiemi are strong by his standards but- they have their own strengths outside of muscles.]

She's been working on it- I can tell.

She's just too nice! [And has something of an inferiority complex, but he's not super aware of that, for better or worse. He waves a hand, and sighs] Even without Ni, you should see the stuff her and Skarmy can pull off! It's amazing.

Well, that's something we can agree on. [He winces at the mention of Skarmy. That infernal bird. He hasn't had to deal with it since the first time he saw it.]

You're pretty proud of her, aren't you? [His tone of voice is almost sing song, tainted with a bit of accusatory.]

Th-that's got nothing to do with nothing! The point is that we're classmates, and we've been learnin' the same stuff for a while, and here in Luceti she's been learnin' more!

Uh huh. [Teenagers, they're all the same. Not that he really cares, but he'd be lying to himself if he said he didn't find Rin's reaction amusing.

You're not doing a very good job of dissuading me from believing anything else, you know.

[He's chuckling at Rin, because he finds his defensiveness very amusing. He was only trying to get his goat, which he's not trying to hide. But he's done picking on him now about Shiemi, he promises!]

Old? Now didn't anyone tell you that's not how you show respect your elders? I don't appear that old to you, now do I?

You gotta be at least twice my age if you've got a girl her age. Probably older.

[A small vein pops out of his forehead. He wasn't expecting Rin to actually confirm that he was old.] You know, you aren't supposed to be so blunt about it.

[TEENAGERS.]

...Well I can't help it if you happen to be old! Not like there's a problem with it!

That's right there isn't a problem with it. [Ah he called him old again, Vegeta can practically feel his insides wrenching at the reality of it.]

Now quit calling me old! Don't you have any manners?

[Which is fair, because let's face it- Vegeta doesn't really have manners half the time either.]

What is that supposed to mean anyway?! 'My bad'? [TEENAGER LINGO, WHAT'S WITH THIS.]
