[It's been a few days since Father's Day. And he got a really nice surprise from his daughter that he never thought possible. Bulla training and honing her skills and power, it really meant something to him; so he's flipping his journal open now since Luceti played a large part of it. He's not even angry this time.]

It's come to my attention that a good number of you had a hand in the gift I received over the weekend. I will say I'm impressed- the lot of you have done the impossible with my daughter Bulla and it most certainly paid off. So for that...[His voice trails off, since saying these sorts of things isn't exactly natural to him.] For that I am grateful. I know a good portion of the time we are safe inside this barrier, but you must understand that I worry for her safety regardless.

So I suppose this is the part where I ask something else not so specific. The gift I received was for your Earthling holiday Father's Day. I've never put much stock in such things, but this last weekend certainly has changed my mind about it a little. Is this something you also observe in your own worlds? And if so, what is it that you've done or would do that you would consider worthy of your father?

Don't get your feathers all bent out of shape. I know she is, she just doesn't pride herself much in anything at all. [He's started to learn 'strong' has a lot of different definitions, if his daughter is any example of it. Neither Bulla nor Shiemi are strong by his standards but- they have their own strengths outside of muscles.]

She's been working on it- I can tell.

She's just too nice! [And has something of an inferiority complex, but he's not super aware of that, for better or worse. He waves a hand, and sighs] Even without Ni, you should see the stuff her and Skarmy can pull off! It's amazing.

Well, that's something we can agree on. [He winces at the mention of Skarmy. That infernal bird. He hasn't had to deal with it since the first time he saw it.]

You're pretty proud of her, aren't you? [His tone of voice is almost sing song, tainted with a bit of accusatory.]

Th-that's got nothing to do with nothing! The point is that we're classmates, and we've been learnin' the same stuff for a while, and here in Luceti she's been learnin' more!

[He's chuckling at Rin, because he finds his defensiveness very amusing. He was only trying to get his goat, which he's not trying to hide. But he's done picking on him now about Shiemi, he promises!]

Old? Now didn't anyone tell you that's not how you show respect your elders? I don't appear that old to you, now do I?

You gotta be at least twice my age if you've got a girl her age. Probably older.

[A small vein pops out of his forehead. He wasn't expecting Rin to actually confirm that he was old.] You know, you aren't supposed to be so blunt about it.

[TEENAGERS.]

That's right there isn't a problem with it. [Ah he called him old again, Vegeta can practically feel his insides wrenching at the reality of it.]

[Which is fair, because let's face it- Vegeta doesn't really have manners half the time either.]

If you were going to say sorry, then why don't you just say it and be done with it? You Earthlings have so many preposterous sayings that I can't even keep it straight half the time. Just the other day some boy said 'tru-fax' to me in a written message over the journals and I still don't know what that is.

Who says "tru-fax" anymore, that just sound lame!

I don't know, I thought that kind of ridiculous language was rampant among you little ingrates. I'm sure it has something to do with that lousy internet. [Man if you couldn't tell he was an old geezer before...]

Are you complaining about the internet?! Everyone uses the internet, man, even people who aren't that into it, like me, miss it!

I've heard about it and I don't use the internet, what use of it would I have? It sounds like a complete waste of time, sitting at a computer for hours for what? To look at pictures of cats? If you were doing something of value like creating blueprints for machines or analyzing data I could see, but you don't need the internet to do that.

How do you know anything about anything without being able to look stuff up?

What kind of question is that? Just because I don't use it to access information doesn't mean I don't know anything about anything.

Then how about what's 15 x 19 ?!

[Okay he can't do math that fast in his head like that. So his first reaction while trying to figure it out is this-]

Couldn't you of picked a more relevant question than multiplication? I don't need to know what that is off the top of my head for any reason.

But that's just it, what if you do need to! You could look it up online! I mean I don't know that one either.

[Ok, first set of numbers is 135, now to do the next part...it's just ones so it's 15 add the zero on the end for 150...]

Shut up and let me think for a second. [150 plus 135...that's 5, then 3+5...]

I don't need to look it up online when I can figure it out on my own. How would you even get by in a place like this where you don't have internet anyway. [1+1 to make 2, so...285. If it wasn't set to voice he'd see Vegeta's smirk.]
