[It's been a few days since Father's Day. And he got a really nice surprise from his daughter that he never thought possible. Bulla training and honing her skills and power, it really meant something to him; so he's flipping his journal open now since Luceti played a large part of it. He's not even angry this time.]

It's come to my attention that a good number of you had a hand in the gift I received over the weekend. I will say I'm impressed- the lot of you have done the impossible with my daughter Bulla and it most certainly paid off. So for that...[His voice trails off, since saying these sorts of things isn't exactly natural to him.] For that I am grateful. I know a good portion of the time we are safe inside this barrier, but you must understand that I worry for her safety regardless.

So I suppose this is the part where I ask something else not so specific. The gift I received was for your Earthling holiday Father's Day. I've never put much stock in such things, but this last weekend certainly has changed my mind about it a little. Is this something you also observe in your own worlds? And if so, what is it that you've done or would do that you would consider worthy of your father?

Well, I don't know about that. I think every parent wants their children to be good parents too. I'm sure your father would approve of Bulla, even moreso now. And he'd probably be proud of you for having her.

[He guesses he can agree with that, his dad would probably be very proud of his grandchildren but he's not so sure if he'd approve of the way they'd been brought up.]

...Perhaps, but Saiyans were not raised like humans, Saori. As a warrior race, we were measured for our power when we were born, and the weakest of us were sent to far distant planets. My father sent my own brother off to a remote world because of his lack of power. Tarble never knew him and I don't believe my father cared. So the fact that she has barely any training whatsoever? I'm not so sure. King Vegeta wasn't exactly an understanding man.

I wasn't exactly raised by humans, myself, Vegeta. It's just a parental instinct though. Even animals have it. Though your father, what I saw of his shade anyway, seemed to be different you're probably right.

But I'd find it hard to believe that Bulla would fail to impress.

[He thought for a second- Tarble was around long enough for Vegeta to at least remember him, perhaps father simply couldn't act like he cared because of his station. Who knew, something now lost to time itself.]

Well, she is my daughter, born with a Saiyan heart and a human spirit. She might even give him a run for his money. Even half-Saiyans aren't something to be trifled with, believe me.

It's funny, isn't it? "Human Spirit" is a phrase that gets used a lot.

They really are a spirited race, aren't they?

After living there as long as I have I'd say there's a good reason why that phrase is used. They may not all be fighters but they've pulled through when we needed them to.

I've said it once and I'll say it again; if there's anything I've learned it's not to underestimate the human race. Though sometimes they do act like children who need to be spoon fed. [He says that last sentence with a little grouch in his tone.]

On either point I'd be hard pressed to disagree. They show great resilience to outside pressure. They've even fought back against some forces in my world that are beyond their understanding.

And yes. [She laughs] They often are like children, blind and stumbling. It's part of why I like them so much.

I don't see how that's so attractive. It almost makes me wonder if they're even worth it half the time. I can think of better qualities to admire than that.

Well, I suppose I have the advantage of perspective, here. Humans have a tendency to...well...they tend to overcome situations they have no right to overcome. I admire tenacity.

[She won't say it but it's one of the qualities in Vegeta she admires as well]

Hmf. They certainly don't give up, that's for sure. Always looking for a way to win no matter what the stakes or how daunting the task is. Trust me, I know first hand. It's one thing to watch them overcome it and it's another to be on the receiving end of the deal.

Oh, believe me, I know that as well. They've fought against my kind before, and overcome some of the lesser kami. Of course they've never really tested themselves against one of my family though. But it's difficult to start a fight with a mountain that walks or a thunderstorm.

[She shrugs]

It's not important though. Your daughter'll grow up to be a great fighter.

I know she will. I just hope she is doing this not because she feels forced, but because she wants to. She doesn't live in a society of warriors as I did. I don't want her to have to live that life. Kill or be killed, no rules, and let the strongest survive. But I want her to be able to take care of herself when the inevitable happens and she is sent to the battlefield, but you already knew that.

'Whatever' can be a lot of things, Saori. Now I might have to come up with something almost unfathomable just to see if you stick to your promises. [He's kidding, but seriously he will if given the chance. He has an awful mind like that.]

Well, you'll not have me shoveling muck and climbing about in filth, Vegeta. I have standards, you understand. But if it will help Bulla, I'll do what I can.

[There's an amused flicker there. Just try it, Prince.]

I'm sure I can think of something humiliating that doesn't involve a shower immediately afterward. [Oh he will try it, goddess, he will.]

I've been in much worse situations. I think I can handle a little mud. [BET SHE CAN'T SAY SHE WAS INSIDE OF SOMEONE'S INTESTINAL TRACK BEFORE...] I'd like to see you try it.

We'll see, if the situation comes up. Or...perhaps we could turn this creative prank energy elsewhere.

Oh there are plenty of people it could be fun to play pranks on. Quite a few...irritating people as well. Luceti's at no loss for swaggering mortals, after all.

Names Saori, names. [He doesn't give a fuck about anyone who hasn't personally been a pain in his side. But he's awfully bored in Luceti as it is, so...getting some payback isn't out of the question.]

Well...Loki is generally a nuisance. Kirk can be a burden as well. And Isaac, but he's less of a pain and more of an enemy.

That little brat Loki? He's a nuisance all right. [He admittedly doesn't know older Loki.] And Kirk can be just as bad, if not worse. I almost killed him a few weeks ago, he's lucky to still be alive.

What's your problem with this Issac? I didn't know anyone here was capable of truly becoming an enemy, the residents have been nothing but peaceful and remarkably annoying to no end with their lighthearted personalities.

No, no, not the child. He's...a bit of a brat sometimes but I do like him. The older one. There are two, and the brat grew into a monster. [She won't say that she hopes to change him with love. Not to Vegeta.]

As for Isaac? He's...a beast. He tried to kill me on our first meeting, spurned my apology for hurting him and tried killing me again. Then he threatened Belle, a young girl I'm fond of, who happens to be around Bulla's age, and he's generally done nothing good. Even...experimenting on the animals here, if you can believe it. A demon-tainted blight is what he is.
