[He'd thought a lot about this, long and hard. But even with all the evidence presented to him over the past year and a half, that still was never enough for him. He didn't want to rely on anything else to fight, he had his own power and his own strength. But being caught like he did so many times on the draft by shifters, relying solely on his own natural strength to survive- there had just been too many close calls.
And he had needed help more than once. How much that ate at his mind was unfathomable except to a few. One day no one was going to be there to help him, even if he hated the very idea of needing help. And if he wasn't ready, where would he be? Put into a position that he allowed for himself to be in, to die. To be sacrificed, like he was already by that bomb the cultists used on them. And next time, he wouldn't be so lucky and he knew it. He still had his reservations about contacting the spirits. But, he felt as if he couldn't avoid it much longer.
Too many what ifs. What if even something so small from the spirits would have helped him? He was sick of it, sick of knowing that might be the only thing he could rely on against their enemy. The only thing that worked when all his other powers were disabled. But even so, there's still more he wanted to know. Because if there's anything he hates, it's wasting time on things that are pointless.]
Video:
[The video feed flickers on, revealing the face of the prince, looking as serious as ever. He gets straight to the point.]
I must know. For those of you who are in contact with the spirits here, what use do you find in their power? Especially in combat. I might even have the patience to listen to a story or two regarding that, as I find it incredibly important in this matter. [He glances off to the side, knowing how this goes in Luceti.]
I know some of you would prefer to speak in person about such things. I'll be at Mythoria Café later tonight. But I won't stay long.
Action:
[As always, he's easily found. During the day, either at House 29 or the Battle Dome training, with both his sword or with his abilities. He does keep his word, appearing at Mythoria Café after he's done training and showered for the day.]

I've got to get some things clarified before I move on from here. [Indicating the draft, of course.]

[You know what, he's just going to keep the rest of that thought to himself. But he's not entirely ready to find out just what exactly happened on the draft that got his father to this point. Yet. He'll work up to it.]
Any luck with it?

I'll keep an ear out for anything too.
[NAILED IT.]

I don't know how necessary it will become to rely on something like this, but...it's not anything we can toss out the window.

[And deep breath again, exhales it slowly and chances a glance at him. Vegeta... seems mostly okay, if a little tense. But he's always tense, so maybe he's misreading it. He's not going to ask if Vegeta's okay, he actually likes not dying. But. Ugh trying to figure out a way to get across that he's worried without being a sap and getting on his father's nerves. It's tough!
And doesn't realize he's staring. Rude, son.]

You've been keeping up with your training, haven't you? [YOU BETTER OF SON]
no subject
Of-of course. Why wouldn't I?
no subject
Still as jumpy as ever, I see.
no subject
Sorry.
[NO YOU CAN'T.]
It's just still taking some getting used to.

[Okay no, he has to ask. It's eating him up inside, he was the only one in the house not called in to the Draft and something happened, he knows it.]
What happened. Out there, I mean.

no subject
Yes, I do.

All of us drafted to fight were sacrificed and killed by the cultists by a bomb they had built. We were revived by John miraculously three days before the bomb was set to go off. So now I guess I know what it's like to be you.

He listens, waits to hear if there's more but then there's not and.
Okay no his father died and then was brought back to life three days before he died and ugh fuck time travel shit shit. Still, he has the barest hint of a smile. He's so proud of his father's first time travel adventure.]
Looks like you guys were able to change it though.

We also discovered what it is we get sacrificed to. There's some sort of creature...
[He shudders thinking about it.]
no subject
The-- The sacrifice they use for the death ritual you told me about?

[And if Vegeta is not wanting to fight it, then it's bad. Really, really bad. And it all comes back around to the fact that Vegeta died and Trunks will have to go through that on his own at a later time, he can't do that in front of his father right now.
But still... He really has no idea what to think. He'd ask if Vegeta really thinks learning about filial magic would help, but then Vegeta wouldn't be asking if he didn't think that. God, he doesn't even want to think about the incident before the draft, that's a whole other headache he's not ready to tackle.
Navigating conversations with his father is a nightmare. ]
At least you're all okay. [Mostly.]
