[He narrows his eyes at Vash, and when the bartender returns with his drinks he slams them both down just to make a point, and orders two more.] I don't think you understand that a Saiyan can consume far more than any human could dream of. And that stick figure of yours isn't going to give you the advantage. So be prepared to lose.

[Vash decides to nurse his drink.] Yeah? So you're just built to drink then?

Saiyans need a substantial amount more of nourishment due to our power. So you could say that. But I won't lie to you and say that our grocery bill back at home is small. Quite the opposite.

So, probably a good thing I didn't challenge you to an eating contest instead then?

Heh, you'd probably lose your appetite just watching a Saiyan eat. [The bartender comes with his drinks, to which he fiddles with the first glass a bit before drinking it down.] You really don't seem the competitive type anyhow. I have a feeling you just wanted to see me get drunk, now didn't you? You've barely touched your drink.

[He kinda got that also from when he met Vash in the forest. He wasn't interested at all in his own power, and Vegeta being the exact opposite would have tried to prove someone wrong if he had been challenged like that. He also can recognize teasing, despite the fact that it still irritates him. He might be arrogant, but he's not stupid.]

I was just waiting for you to catch up is all. [He takes a long drink to prove this point.] But you're right. I guess I'm not overly competitive, except with drinking, because I'm going to win this one.

[No he's not and he knows it.]

Hmmm. [He gives Vash a good hard look, and decides to drink his other shot in front of him.] Well I'm at four now, and I doubt you've gotten that far yet. [He thinks for a second.] Got a deck of cards on you?

[Vash helps himself by leaning over and grabbing the bottle of scotch from behind the counter. He has a feeling they'll be needing it. The bartender doesn't even blink at Vash's self service, they're all use to it by now anyway.]

I use to keep a pack on me. [Most people had a deck on them back home. It was a useful thing back home on his desert planet. Card games could be a great bargaining tool.] But not in this jacket. They might have a few packs here in the bar. Most of the bars back home would keep some around.

[He pours himself a shot of scotch and downs it.]

I see you waste no time. [He eyes the bottle Vash just grabbed, noticing that no one even bothered to stop him at all.] And that you must come here often.

[He looks for the bartender again, waving them down.] You, do you keep cards here? If so we need a deck. We will return it when we are finished. [And as soon as the bartender gives him a pack, he'll wait until he walks away- and grabs his own bottle of scotch as well.] I've got an idea. [He can't help but grin a little wickedly, more competition to add on is always in order for this Saiyan.]

Over three years now. I guess you can call me a "regular" face around here.

[Vash lets himself take another drink while the cards are brought over to them.] Yeah? Dare I ask what that idea is?

Great galaxy, three years?! How have you been here this long and not lost your mind?

[But he'll open the cards, and slide the deck out.] A little game I've seen the humans play back at home. It's pretty easy. I have the deck, and I'll take a card and look at it- you merely need to guess whether it's red or black. If you're right I must drink. If you're wrong you have to drink. Of course I'll show you the card once you've made your guess. Sound like a plan?

It was a little easier a few months ago. [Back when he had his best friend returned from the dead and his child living with him.]

Sounds easy enough. Fifty-fifty chance either of us will end up drinking then.

[He remembered. Whatever Vash called family had disappeared and the little boy taken away. He's probably going to avoid that subject the rest of the night, since they were supposed to be enjoying themselves at least. However Vash can bring it up if he wants.] So, I have to ask; are you human? You have a strange Ki but I never cared enough to ask you previously. Not a lot of humans are capable of that kind of power. And if I remember correctly we spoke first near the beginning of my time here, and I was far more preoccupied with gathering my bearings and controlling my rage for the most part at being captured and imprisoned here.

[He shuffles the deck in his hands, not so gracefully as maybe someone who's done it their whole life, but he manages, and puts the deck face down. He draws a card, taking a look at it- and looks up.]

Whenever you're ready.

No, I'm not. [Perhaps if he hasn't just spent three years in a world where that isn't uncommon he would have been a bit more hesitant. Now though it's easier to say.] I'm a Plant. [One born with free will.] Well, it's a bit complicated, but I'm not a tree or anything like that. [He met a tree man here once.]

Hmm, [He considers the card in Vegeta's hand.] Black.

[Vegeta scowls, and turns the card over. It's black. And as promised, he grabs his own bottle of scotch and takes a swig. He makes sure to grab another, peeking at it and looking back up.]

A Plant huh? You wouldn't happen to have a planet called Planet Plant in your world, now would you? Because one existed where I'm from. [He'll get to asking what a Plant is soon enough. But he finds this ironic first.]

Not that I know of. I'm from the planet Gunsmoke. [Depending on how many cards he fails to guess will depend on the answers Vegeta will be getting out of Vash tonight.]

[He waves the next card at Vash. Time to guess again!]

That would have been quite the irony, considering that planet I just mentioned is my home planet. Though it was not named Plant when I was conceived. [He takes another drink just for the hell of it. Vegeta, no.]

Black.

Yeah? I guess they wanted something a little more creative. What did they end up renaming it.

What! [He flips the card over for Vash to see- it's black again. He turns his mouth up, but he takes another swig. Not fair!]

It was named after my father. So it was renamed Planet Vegeta. Now, tell me why they call your race Plants, considering that all I can think of is vegetation.

[WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!] And, what was your name again?

I've told you my name once before. [He sneers a little bit, but he'll remind him of his name.] It's Vegeta. Prince Vegeta, remember now? [He draws another card, waving it to let Vash know to guess.]

That- that's what I thought. So. Were you named after your father? Or the planet?

[This time Vegeta grins. The card is flipped over for Vash to see- and it's black. Vegeta is a shitty shuffler, apparently.]

After my father. Don't be ridiculous. The planet was named after him once we conquered it.

[Vash takes his drink with no qualms.]

You conquered it? [He has never liked these kind of talks. It makes his initial response of: what? Are Saiyans terrible at naming things die on his lips.]
